Brainspotting

"Where you look affects how you feel." –Dr. David Grand, discoverer, and developer of the brainspotting method.

Brainspotting makes use of the naturally occurring phenomenon which takes place when points in the visual field are connected with areas of unprocessed trauma which linger in the subcortical brain. Healing can begin when the brain is allowed to "reaccess" these traumas and begin processing them in a safe environment. The goal of brainspotting is to bypass conscious, neocortical thinking and access the deeper subcortical, emotional, and body-based parts of the brain. While particularly effective in trauma-based situations, brainspotting is effective in a wide variety of emotional and somatic conditions.

Defragmentation

Access traumatic memories and "move" them from short-term memory where they can cause flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, insomnia and other imbalances, and send them to long-term memory where they belong.

Restoration

Once regions of unprocessed trauma are accessed in the subcortical brain, processing begins and can continue long after your session has ended. Brainspotting can augment your current therapy, freeing your mind to move forward.

FUN FACT:

Your eyes are extensions of your brain outside the cranial vault.
